Anthony Polifrone

This month's spotlight is on private pilot Anthony Polifrone.  Anthony has achieved a lot in his life prior to becoming a pilot.  His background is extensive - including studies in architecture, engineering and medicine.  As the son of a neurosurgeon, you might expect him to follow in his father's footsteps but instead he developed his own successful medical career that has lasted the past 30 years.  At 50 years old he decided it was time to change course and pursue his life long interest in flying.  It's a passion he has had since he was 10 years old after taking his first flight in [...]

Saki Chen – Spanning the Globe!

Congratulations to Century Air graduate Miss Saki Chen on completing her recent round-the-world journey, and for making a name for herself as the youngest Chinese pilot to circumnavigate the globe in a single engine aircraft. Saki began her journey in Cleveland Ohio, where she took off from Cuyahoga County Airport in a Bonanza A-36 with two safety pilots on board for assistance. The 58 day journey covered 24,000 miles! You can view her flight path at: https://share.delorme.com/RichardRohl. Miss Chen is a recent graduate of Century Air where she earned her private pilot certificate and instrument rating. This has been a lifelong [...]

Jordan Behrle

Jordan Behrle has certainly made a name for himself with Century Air! He is one of the youngest students ever to graduate the private pilot program. Jordan (right) is seen here with his father, Keith, upon returning from his first flight as a newly certificated private pilot - and his dad was his first passenger. Just two years ago, Jordan and his father walked through the doors of Century Air on Jordan's 15th birthday and enrolled him in the private pilot program. A year later, at just 16 years old, he celebrated his first solo flight and then earned his [...]

David Mosquera

David Mosquera knew he wanted to be a pilot since he was five years old, and at the age of twenty-three he began to realize his dream when he enrolled in the private pilot course at Century Air. That was back in 2007, and today David holds a commercial pilot certificate (single and multi-engine) with an instrument rating, and he has logged over 1500 flight hours. Amazingly, he did it all while raising two daughters and supporting his family working various jobs - mostly as an airport limousine driver. In February 2012, after completing his instrument rating (and while training [...]

Mohamed Tayee

Meet Mohamed Tayee, age 17 (left), a bright, young student from Cairo, Egypt. Mohamed enrolled in Century Air's private pilot course on June 26 and completed the full program in just six weeks! He did it by training 6-7 days per week (6-8 hours per day) which included two dual lessons per day and a lot of study work in between. Mohamed is seen here with his father, Egypt Air A320 Captain, Walid Tayee (right). Captain Tayee has been flying for Egypt Air for 25 years, and chose Century Air for his son's training based on a referral from a [...]

Jerry Krivitzky

Jerry Krivitzky has been a long time client of Century Air since he began his private pilot training in 2002. Thereafter he earned his instrument and commercial while also piloting his personally owned single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza. Over the years, Jerry has been generously donating his time to Angel Flight NE, a non-profit organization, where he has built up over 2700 flight hours transporting patients to destinations for life-saving medical care. A worthy cause indeed! We congratulate Jerry on the addition of his multi-engine rating to his list of achievements. He completed this rating in Century Air's Twin Comanche (seen here) [...]

Salvatore Apice

Sal Apice began learning to fly when he received a wonderful gift from his brother on his 40th birthday - a full private pilot course!  Sal (right) earned his pilot’s certificate on January 25 and, very fittingly, his brother Jim (left) was his first passenger. Although Sal is a new private pilot, he is not new to aviation. He has been flying model aircraft as a weekend hobby for many years. And it's a giant hobby! Sal builds and flies 1/3rd scale RC aircraft with 12 foot wing spans - from Cessna 182's to turbine jet aircraft. It's an amazing [...]

Ruthven Atkins

Ruthven Atkins worked as a Police Officer in his homeland of Trinidad and Tobago for sixteen years before deciding to pursue his dream of becoming a commercial pilot. He completed his private pilot certificate in the warm and sunny Caribbean climate, however; he quickly realized that there were many limitations to learning to fly in that region. There are very few airports, as well as a very unstructured and basic airspace system, and navigation is too simplistic. He knew he would need a more challenging training environment to learn real world skills and to eventually have a chance of competing [...]
